Un Grand Bonjour à toi MUNCHEN!
J'ai habité Gröss weil près de Murnau de 1968 à 1973, mon mari était en mission pour une Cie de travaux publics, pour travaux de terrassement en vu des jeux olympiques de 1972. Après cette mission nous sommes retournés en France et je n'ai jamais pu oublier combien j'ai aimé ce pays de Bavière!! en 1986 je suis rentrée dans le tourisme et j'ai pris tous les circuits de Bavière et autriche en accompagnatrice de voyage et chauffeur d'autocars grand tourisme, ainsi jusqu'en 1995 j'ai sillonné ces régions sans m'en lassé, je le ferais encore si malheureusement un problème de santé n'était pas survenu, donc à présent je suis secrétaire en informatique et j'ai toujours la même nostalgie de ce pays, qui en ce moment doit être magnifique en cette pèriode de Noël***!!!
Je souhaiterais avoir un ou une correspondant(e) pour parler de cette région et obtenir des informations au cas ou je ferais partir des amis ou des groupes en privé.
Je vous remercie de votre bienveillance afin d'avoir une réponse favorable à ma demande.

I LOVE your site! It's the next best thing to "being there." I have visited DE and AU--specifically Munich, Garmisch and Salzberg. My wife, Beverly, worked in Garmisch '72-3. My husband (at the time) was stationed at Merrell Barracks in Nurnberg from 1976-1978 in the 3/17th F.A. unit. Our son was born there in March 1978. Living in Nurnberg was the most exciting time of my life. I still miss it after all these years and have such vivid memories that will be with me forever. We lived just past the Pastorrius (sp?) housing area in a little one bedroom apt. on Zerzabelshoff Strasse. Our landlords were Herr and Frau Reiser. Anybody who remembers the Prills please let me know. Thanks.

Hi there, thanks for hosting a site dedicated to Bavaria. My kids and I are on our way to Bavaria, and the only thing I have found frustrating so far is that I have been unable to get a DETAILED map of Bayern so that when I arrive I can drive myself with confidence from the airport to Naufarn.
Watch out! Another "no German spoken here" American tourist on the way!

Ich bin vor einem Jahr zum ersten Mal nach Bayern gefahren und niemals werde ich diese Reise vergessen. Ich habe die Schlösser von Ludwig II. besichtigt und ich habe mich in die Alpen verliebt. Auch habe ich das Dorf Oberammergau entdeckt und die schönen Häuser haben mir sehr gefallen. Ich bin nur 14 Jahre alt und ich bin noch nicht volljährig, deshalb darf ich allein nicht nach Deutschland fahren. I just sent an e-mail to bang, home page address regarding our youth choirs which will be touring your area on July 15th of this year. We are hoping to sing for the tourists at the castle (a music room?) We could perform pieces that might have been sung at that time for the King. What do you think? We do not charge for our concerts, but do accept donations (however, this is not required). Even a reduction on our castle tour costs would be wonderful! Viewing your site for the first time and it's excellent. I'm in the process of planning my return trip to Germany and my second "Oktoberfest." A few quick comments on the areas I find most memorable. The Rhine region is awesome. Castle after castle as well as some excellent wine. The castles aren't as extravagant as Neuschwanstein castle, but just as satisfying. The Bavarian Alps has the best scenery. Snow capped mountains & rolling green pastures. Lastly, I must comment on Munich. Though not a city person myself; Munich showed me the metropolitain side of Germany and made me appreciate the Rhine & Apls that much more. The Marienplatz and some other squares in the old city are excellent. Then there's "Oktoberfest" which is obviously not for the faint of heart. There's some serious drinkin goin on here and the crowds are overwhelming at times. Suck it up and go for it!! Get into one of those beer tents and find a seat, it's time to party! Hunker down with a litre of some fine German brew and why not a mamouth pretzle to help facilitate that beer drinking. Ever hear 6,000 Germans sing one of there national songs. Arm in arm, glasses clinking and people dancing on tables. It's an experience that will change your life; it changed mine!

My husband and I plan to spend Christmas 2000 in Germany. Tentative plans are to spend 3-4 days in Nuremberg for Christmas Market and then around Dec. 23rd go to Garmisch or somewhere in that area. Would like a hotel, B&B, or lodge that might offer a traditional Germany Holiday Celebration and maybe a sleigh ride too. We will be taking the train as we do not drive in Germany. This will be our third trip to beautiful Bavaria - I fell in love with the Alps and the area! This will be our first winter trip. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Also, plan to spend New Year's 2001 in the Rhine area - any suggestions? Thank you so much for you time.
