A day at the zoo
Would you know anyhing neater to do than go to the zoo ? Of course,
but the Munich Hellabrun zoo is unique in its way to keep the
animals happy, and the visitors we shouldn't forget. Watch the girafes
putting knots into their short necks trying to follow the jumping and
swinging of their closest neighbors the shimpanzees. They of course
will entice you to give them that lovely snack you are holding in your
hand. In an aquarium you may wish a happy birthday to a 54 year old
fish who expects us to blow out the candles, it's too dificult
under water ...

Castles, stars and You
- We are not so sure but we were told that some ghosts still haunt the
castle Blütenburg in the township of Pasing. Some say they look
like the little wooden munchkins people love to put in their
gardens. Don't worry, these ghots only scare grown ups. A library
inside the castle keeps busy all year long, exhibits, shows and
books specialy for you. There is even a fairy that tells stories in
english. Starting June 2 the library shows 200 books on the alphabet
from all places on this planet. If you prefer the stars leave the castle
and hurry to the bavarian observatory where you can learn how to find
the magic signs in the sky and maybe see the star of the "little prince".

Food and dance with your friends
Maybe by now you feel hungry and thirsty. Instead of the golden arches
try the "KIDS CAFE" in Pasing where you can meet with friends
and have a fun afternoon. But if you prefer something wilder why not
try the Disco for young aspiring dancers between 9 and 12 and
between 12 and 14 years old. Sunday mornings you can invite the whole
family to a Jazz breakfast. While mom and dad are sipping their
fourth cup of coffee you can watch cartoons.

Theatre, puppet shows, paintings and magic
Now here comes the real fun stuff. The children's theatre presents
your favorite fairy tales (even scarry ones by the Grimm brothers) in
full acting and costuming: the wolf that eats Cinderella and red
riding hood meets prince charming ! (or did we get something wrong
here ?) A fantastic version of Mozart's magic fluteis shown at
the puppet museum (in the Stadmuseum), opera as never seen
before. Very close to the puppet museum is the Marienplatz, Munich's
central place in front of city hall, go watch clowns, magicians,
acrobats and fire spitters that bring the center alive. Check on your parents
to see if there is still some energy left, if so, take'em to the
Lenbachhaus to see a wonderful exhibit: with children's eyes,
(Mit dem Auge eines Kindes, till Aug 20). The exhibit asks the question:
"do modern artists paint like children".
