I LOVED your website which I found while looking for something else.
I stayed in Berchtsgaden at Frau Posner's Haus Wiedau in Oct. 1991 during a
3 week trip to Germany and have never had a better time or warmer

I just found your page while doing a Yahoo search and find it to be
very professionally designed with very interesting content. I have
been to Munich 4 times and am looking forward to my next visit in May,
1997. I have a very fun part-time job in that I get to take 40 MBA
students to Europe each May for 17 days. From May 9-26, 1997, we will
be visiting Paris, London, MUNICH, and Prague. During our stop in
each city, we visit 3-4 companies for presentations and discussions on
a wide variety of international business and marketing topics. In our
past visits to Munich (1992, 1993, 1994) we have visited BMW AG,
Siemens AG, Urban & Schwarzenberg, Verlegerdienst München, Ferraro,
and the Bavarian Ministry for Economic Affairs & Transport. In 1997,
we hope to revisit Urban & Schwarzenberg and the Bavarian Ministry. I
like to line up a few new companies with each visit and still have 1
or 2 openings for Munich. I have always wanted for my group to be
able to visit a BAVARIAN BREWERY, but have had no luck! I would love
to get my foot in the door with Spaten, Löwenbrau, Paulaner, or one
of the other major breweries. Could you help? Do you have any
contacts at all with any of the breweries there (I saw the "breweries"
listing on your Business page)? If so, do you think they may be
receptive to meeting 40 American MBA graduate students (average age 29
years old) for a 2-3 hour presentation on the Bavarian brewing
industry and the challenges faced in production, distribution, and

I'm a shop owner in a "Bavarian" tourist town in central Washington state
just east of the Cascade Mountains. I finally visited real bavaria for two
weeks this past July and truly fell in love with the area. Wish I had learned
to speak German, though...had a difficult time ordering food, got a parking
ticket and went the wrong way on a one-way street. bought plenty of wonderful
Bavarian clothes to wear here. especially enjoyed Reit am Winkl and Ruhpolding
and just driving around the countryside visiting many small towns and avoiding
the larger ones.the pensions were great places to stay in. We're even
planning our first Christkindlmarkt for Thanksgiving weekend. I'll visit
there again just as soon as I can. thanks for being a great and friendly
place - - beautiful, as well.

I have been to Munich 8 times over the last 12 years. That city
remains the favorite city of both my wife and myself. We are going to Munich
and the surrounding area on December 28 and expect to be there for 12 days. We
have accomodations for the first two nights at what used to be a bed and
breakfast but now is just "bed". We would like information on bed and
breakfast locations in the area. I have been searching the web for information
aboutRosenheim and Regensburg as well. We have a 5 day Twin Rail pass. Any

I was fortunate to live in Muenchen and other parts of Bayern from
1988 to 1993. Most people would say that I now live in what most describe as
paradise. But those of us who have lived in Bavaria know that paradise is

I really enjoy the Bavaria website, as well as many others re: Munich
and Bavaria. Also very much appreciate beautiful mailing from Munich Tourist
Office ordered on-line. I have visited Berlin and Frankfurt, never Munich. I

The years 1980 thru 1985 were the best in our lives. That's when
my wife and I lived in Perlacher Forst American housing (we had a duplex on
Winlandstrasse). Bavaria has so much to offer that it almost becomes part of
you...we certainly didn't want to leave. Some of our German friends have
come to visit with us and we have enjoyed showing them around our country a
bit. I know that McGraw Kaserne is now closed but my question refers to the
housing area. Who is living in Perlacher Forst now? We had a movie theater,
a retail store (the PX) and a Burger King. What has happened to them?

Like the Web Page! My wife and I will be arriving in Munich on Aug 26.
Problem: we are unfortunately short on vacation (always the case!). Due
to family obligations, we will have only 4 days to play with until we have
to be elsewhere. Our plan is to stay in Munich for 2 days, then travel
by train to the area of Kur- und Ferienland Garmisch-Partenkirchen (our
next destination has us meeting family in Austria just to the south of
Salzburg) We enjoy mostly hiking, eating traditional German foods, and
drinking the great German beers! I understand that the city of
Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a larger city and perhaps not as quaint a
location as we are after. Can you recommend other possibilities such
as Grainau, Klais, Oberau, Fussen? Those appear to be accessible by train and
that is important since we are traveling by Eurail. Any other helpful hints
would be greatly appreciated.

Had Brother stationed in 8th Armoured Cav in Bad Krosnek (?). Visited him
in 1966 and had the best time of my life in Germany. People were wonderful.

My 2 favorite countries are Germany (Bavaria) and Austria which we have
visited 6 times and want to return this Autum. Generaly fly into Munich
and get our auto there and travel on our own. Speak just enough German
to get by and we love to mix with the native folks off the beaten path.
Have stayed in numerous cities from Berlin to Fussen and Ulm to
Birchesgarten and always enjoyed it.... more so when we quit the tours
and went our own way. The scenery is beautiful, the food is great, the
wine & beer is outstanding and the people are friendly. Just got back in
March from Egypt and toured China for 3 weeks last year so we are ready
to visit Germany/Austria again when family conditions allow (a Parent's
health). Just got on Internet last month and this is first time on your

Have done some wandering through several web sites today looking for
information on a small community North-East of Munich called Markt
Indersdorf. My Daughter is going there in the spring of 97 on an
exchange with a student from there. This is in cojunction with the
Alberta Govenment Department of Education and the Bavaian Ministry of
Education. Her exchange partner is arriving here in August of this
year. Would like to know a little about the area and community. This
was the only web site that offered some interaction. This was
thoughtful of those of us from outside Europe that come across the
page. Hope you can help. Also is there access in the area to the net
that my daughter could use or tie into to email home. This would be

My wife and I have been to Munich three times over the last 17 years, the
first time was on our honeymoon. We went to Oktoberfest in 93 & 95.
We returned on openning day to find the same group(two tables) sitting
just how we meet them in 1993. From there we toured Switzerland and we're
traveling east toward Wein and detoured back to Munich for closing day
of Oktoberfest. By now you can guess that we really like beer and Oktoberfest!

I'm trying to find out if Arzberg, Bavaria still produces fine china.
I can't find it anywhere and am beginning to despair. I recently inherited
half of a 12 place set of china from my Mom, my sister got the other half,
and since there was only one of coffee pot, sugar bowl and creamer, it
had to go with one or the other and Sis was the lucky one who got them. I
doubt, after all this time (Mom bought it around 1962 or 63) that the pattern
would still be available, but something close would be nice. One problem
I've had here is that while many chinas may be 'white,' white has many
hues. I'm hoping if it comes from Bavaria, that at least the hue will be
correct. (When I hold one of Mom's dishes up to another china that looks
slightly grey, Mom's looks whiter, & if I hold it next to a 'white'
dish Mom's looks greyer. I can't win.) Please, if Hutschenreuther is
still in business, could you please e-mail me their address? I'd be ev!

I love this page. Great information! For those interested in Munich,
I was there last September. While there, don't forget to go out to Schloss
Nymphenberg, King Ludwig's Munich castle, which is located in the city. You
can take a streetcar out there. The gardens are great and run forever. Pack a
picnic lunch and go for a stroll. It's great. The castle, which you can
tour, has a carriage museum which is particularly interesting. Also, don't
forget about the Hoffbrau House downtown, and the great pedestrian area
running through downtown where there are always a lot of street performers,
human statues, magicians, etc. I was also at Lindenhof on the same trip. They
are doing construction or restoration there with scaffolding, etc. but it is
open and worth the trip. Lindenhof is small, not as grandiose as Nymphenberg,
but is also surrounded by quaint formal gardens and fountains. Also, don't
forget about Berchestesgaden,my first love. Plenty to do there!!

My wife and I love Bavaria, especially Bertchesgaden. We travel there
about once a year, always staying at the same hotel, Vier Jahrezeiten at the
top of the hill, overlooking the railway station. The restaurant at the hotel,
Hubertstuben is the best in town, with quite an extensive menu. Salzburg is
also an easy hop away, by bus.

I spent 30 months in beautifull Germany while in the US Army. The years were
back in the 1958-1959 era when 1$=4 DM. The "Good Old Days". My ancestors
came from Germany, and I've always had a strong feeling for the German people.
