Ho, Ho, Ho...

Season greetings ! Enjoy the sweet smell of candis, orange and clove carried by hot wine served at the many Christkindl Markt (Christ-child market place). Well lit small wooden cabins welcome Munchners and foreigners alike to get into the spirit of the pre-christmas season. The second candle on the Advenzkranz (advent wreath) has been lighted, children will have to wait a bit longer, still two more to go. We've gathered a few impressions from the Christkindlmarkt at the Marienplatz and Münchner Freiheit. The magnificent Christmas tree at the Marienplatz casts a warm light on city hall and the busy shoppers.

Christmas ornaments
Look at all the different materials used to make these tree ornaments. Dried flowers, straw, wood and hand blown glass objetcs in shining colors.

Armies of wooden people
from all walks of life, nurses, doctors, bakers, craftsmen, almost all professions are represented.

Many additional activities take place, craftsmen talk about tradition and history, walking tours of Schwabing take place on Saturdays and quite a few musicians play to animate the open air marts.
Just in case, the Christmas mart will last from November 29 to December 24 and it is open from Mondays through Saturdays 9:00am to 7:30pm and Sundays from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
